I'm having trouble with something in my transmission or rear gear housing!! It will periodically slip and then act like the differential is trying to lock and unlock when the switch is in single wheel or diffirential lock position!' Has anyone else had this kinda trouble? I have it pulled out of my ranger now and it's at a shop being worked on but their telling me everything is up to oem specs and can't find anything internally wrong with it!! Any help please!! :? :? :?

Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with the one piece tranny/diff on the 800 like I do the older models.

Does it act like it's slipping out of gear? Are you certain that it's not the clutch that is slipping?

It seems to be either slipping in and out of differential lock! I'm not sure about clutch but the shop that broke down for me said clutches looked fine were working properly!! Another issue I'm having along with this same situation is with a brand new battery in ranger I can't keep it charged!! Something pulling a constant charge and draining it!! :x :x :x :x

Has anyone checked the diff solenoid? Maybe its its defective or maybe the actual switch is defective.

That's a good possibility. Since the diff' automatically defaults to locked when you remove power from the solenoid, it could be as simple as a loose connection to the solenoid......or a bad solenoid or switch as Curt mentioned.
