I have had the Grumpy Air Mod installed for over 1 year now, with NO Dust problems. B U T while I had the bed off, Fabbing my NEW HEAT SHIELDS, I thought that I would further modify the intake. The one thing that I always HATED was if I needed to remove the Intake Air Collector, I would have to DIG the silicon caulk from around the horns, then twist the box around so that it could be removed from the engine intake horn. Rather than going into all the Details, here are some pics from start to finish.

Cut the engine intake horn off within 4" of the filter box and replaced it with a 1 7/8 ID Heavy Duty Truck Radiator hose

Next, I fabbed a new bottom for the air collector as well as a galvanized metal bottom to be siliconed to BOTH the air horns(CVT & ENGINE)

Got a 2" 45degree PVC Elbow, ground one end off to serve as mini hood scoop,as well as sanding ALL inside totally smooth, then siliconed it into the radiator hose

This pic shows the air intake collector slipping over both the intakes(totally sealed on the permanent metal side)

While I had the air intake collector box off, I used insulated air conditioning tape to cover the outside.(Figured that since I needed some cool air and the bed is black, I'd try to help it out:)). I also installed a divider in the air intake collector box, give the CVT side about 1/3 and the engine side 2/3. In addition, glued NEW foam around the front, top and back of the box.

Project Completed, with bed back on

AND NOW FOR THE MOST IMPORTANT MOD OF ALL. This ones for my son who is in Walter Reed Hospital, Washington DC. He has been in there since March 2008 and will have to remain for at least another 12 months.

Son , THIS ONES FOR YOU, I'm very proud of you and glad that you are MY SON. Dad,(Bart)

Bart,

Great job on the writeup and pics. You are correct, the last picture is the most important.

Bart,
I’m only a lowly member of this forum but I think I speak for every member both here and on PRC when I say Thank You to your son from all of us.

From me I also say God Bless him.

Sincerely,
David

Bart,

Been awhile since there was any activity on this thread so I thought I would ask how is your son doing these days?

We are still praying for him and the family and hope all is okay.

Carl
Carl,
Thanks for asking. He's getting ready for his 6th surgery on the left leg that they are trying to save. He's still got 2 halos on that leg. On his 4th prosthetic limb on the right one. For the most part, he can get around a little with no assistance from canes/crutches, but he tends to get pretty tired.

That is one thing I love about PRC; The people here are not afraid to show their support for the people who have gave it all for the country that we love. It is a shame that there are not more people in this country like the people of PRC!!! This is why PRC is the best out there. We may not have the most posts or the most members but we have the faith, family, country and life loving people that means more than the other things. God bless the people who protect the land that we call home. And God bless the people who are not afraid to speak his word. Tell your son that we are praying for him, Bart; we are also praying for you and your wife for strength and safe travels. Thanks man
