Well I finally found and exhaust that will actually give more power for the Carter gtr. Its a slip on style muffler and staright thru design, with it and a K&N filter, 135 main jet, 35 pilot jet and the clip moved to the secound notch I picked up better throttle response and 3.6 mph.

Still a tad lean on the top end so I will install a 138 main and see how that does.

Looks good and sounds good. Is that muffler made for the Carter, or did you have to look until you found something that would work and fit?

this exhaust is one I imported to try on the carters. there is another exhaust out there but its only bling and doesn't give any real power.

this set up is for a 300cc scooter, the stock header is 1 1/8 outside dia. I have tried 4 different slip on mufflers, this is the only one I have found that's affordable for everyone and showed a real power gain.

finally got around to playing with the jetting some more, found it likes a 138 main jet, 35 pilot jet and the clip on the second notch, picked up 2 mph, no more back fire and better throttle response.

makes it alot more fun, now have to start on the hid light kit

Eric, It's a "Good Feeling" when you get the jetting dialed in isn't it. :D  Are you using a Mikuni ?

its a Keihin slide carb. yes it does feel good to get everything working right. the new muffler sounds nice when I let off of it, the clutch doesn't disengage until low rpm so its like and engine brake

Do you have a total gain figure yet. I'm interested in seeing how much of a diffence it made. Is there a lot of difference between the 300 and a CF moto 250?

so far I have picked up 4.67 mph and alot better throttle response. there is a big differance between the sym 300 and the cfmoto250. the sym has 24 hp stock and the cf has 14, the sym has a 4 valve head, ceramic coated cylinder, longer stroke and a bigger bore.

I haven't seen a lot of buggies using the Sym besides Carter. Are they fairly easy to get parts for? I looked at Sym's website and it looks like they make some good motors. I wonder why a buggy manufacturer hasn't used the 500 in a small buggy?
