Today I made the test run on the new setup , a smoother ride to say the least. Spring didn't seem much different than the factory 100 lb. setup. The shock springs are set at pretty much the lowest point right now so there is room to adjust for additional ground clearance.I measured it when I came back in and at the very front I have 10 1/2 " , not bad huh?
So in retrospect, an atv shock can be a good swap , however the Yfz shock requires a little more work than others might. The yfz shock mounts are wider at the top than the stock unit and narrower at the bottom, and if used in a stock suspension bracket some grinding will be required . Also the shock I used is slightly shorter than a stock unit.
